On this day

So today we all gather for food and friends,
and give thanks for everything we have been given
but as people say thanks for what is before them
do they think of who they offer praise?
Do they thank themselves or the others around?
Is it meant for the birds and beasts of the ground?

Most often they speak out of a respect
For an age old tradition their grandmother did
Don't fall into this baited trap
The thanks is to God, for all that he’s done
Everything within reach of your hand
was planned out before the world began

So praise to the Lord, the Almighty above
who deserves all our thanks as we take every breathe
he owns it all, you are a steward
use it well and give thanks to the Lord

Happy Thanksgiving!

And now for an update on the progress of the band, songs, recording, and other things

I am glad to report that we might be able to start recording soon!!!
Beth's uncle is going to be helping us out by letting us use some of his equipment and editing program. We are planning to do a bit of recording next weekend, the last in October. Be on the look out for a first official song!!

On another note, we have some new equipment, Bethlehem's  new amp! It is very exciting, because before we were borrowing an amp..... It has several hookups so we should be able to plug in the microphone, piano, electric guitar, and maybe the violin! Gail has a cord that she uses to tune her dulcimer; the cord clips onto her dulcimer and senses the vibrations of the strings. Because it senses the vibration, it can be clipped onto the bridge of the violin, instantly making an electric violin!!

No new songs have been written, but several drafts are almost done!

Also, what do you think of a short Christmas Album of about 5-7 songs? What songs would you like to see us do for a Christmas album?

So the World Now Knows

*drum roll*

Here is the first ever revealing of song lyrics written by Lorna to the world!

This is just a random lyric:

Less of me more of you,
Cut me deep effuse you through
                 I'm lost and all alone
Lord come and guide me home

This next one is a personal favorite:

I saw a glimmer, hope restored
Then I remember, hope should have never left
I am so frail, I need your glory
               Love that washes over me

That is just the first part of that song; the rest will be told once we record it, which hopefully will be soon. Maybe we can get a rough copy out sometime.

Hope everyone enjoyed and I made you think. More lyrics to come soon, this is only the beginning!

Now Hear a Toast Friends:

Greetings to you there,
Yesterday honored Haiku's
Observe one below
                                                   Weather was lovely
Cold breathe of air on my skin
enjoy; twirl and dance

That Haiku was lame,
Because it was just made up
Here, try another:
Invisible man
He appears unexpected,
                                                  heart suddenly jumps

                          One more you may read
About why I must leave you
                          Parting words, enjoy

A report is due
 tomorrow, the night runs short
 Finish this then work

So now I must leave,
to write pages on a book
I'd rather not do

Much better to stay
to write thoughts of mine on this
listening to songs

Alas I must go
the school work draws me away
so farewell my friends

A sad day

I finally have the courage to post this,

Sadly at 10:24 on Tuesday the 21st or September 2010 at the age of 13, our dog Dakota passed away.

Sadly we had to put him down. He was having breathing trouble and could not walk. Thanks to the Lord for so many things thought. He was quite calm at the end like he knew and was ready to die. Thanks that my dad was able to come back from Florida, making the plane with only 10min to spare. Thanks that Dakota had a happy and long life. Thanks that we had so many good times with him. Thank the Lord for so many more things. There are so many that I cant even list them all.

Dakota looking out his favorite window with his cousin Otis

Standing in the fall leaves while we were camping. He loved being outside.

Dakota at Christmas

Yes he got to sit at the table on his birthday.

Greetings, friends; 'tis I, Beth the Great (also known as the music writer for the phenomenal band that is IMP), and self-recognized narcissist (get it?). So naturally, all written topics will be pertaining to, or completely about.... me! (Then again, what else is a blog supposed to be about?)
Something new and exciting will be happening (hopefully) soon - IMP will be in the recording studio within about a month! So far, we have had only one experience with the process, thanks to my uncle Chris, a part-time music producer. With some of his technical help, a mini-studio will exist in my room - all digital at the moment, but that will eventually change. That is, when we have more, erm... resources.

One Faith by Michael Card & John Michael Talbot

Here is a song that Bethlehem recently showed me. To us is sounds very majestic and powerful, just as the words are.

Here are the lyrics:

He is a good shepherd, He's laid down His life for His sheep
So out of many nations He's gathered one fold and one faith
And He has built His church on the rock foundation of faith
On apostles and prophets who shepherd the people in His place

Chorus:
There is one faith, one hope, and one baptism, one God and Father of all
There is one church, one body, one life in the Spirit, now given so freely to all

He gave to Simon Peter and to all of the twelve
The keys to the Kingdom so darkness would never prevail
But some of the shepherds have pastured themselves on their sheep
So he has come out against them and scattered His people of faith

Chorus

Bridge:
In good pasture He will shepherd His people
On the mountain top He feeds His sheep
He will lead the poor and afflicted
To the prisoner He'll bring release

Chorus

But He'll not forsake His people, He'll claim His sheep for His own
He'll send out His word to the nations, regather His people back home
For He is a good shepherd, He's laid down His life for His sheep
So out of many nations He's gathered one fold and one faith
Chorus  x2

And so the search begins....

Here we will begin what will be a long, but enjoyable process: choosing a college.

Yes I am of the age now when one thinks of college and career.

First i am going to state what i am looking for/ have decided I need to look for in a college.

1) Christian: It may seem narrow minded but I want to go and feel lead to a Christian college. It may be a good way to spread the Gospel by going to a secular college but I don't feel lead that way. I believe that God is leading me to a Christian college so that i can gain a better understanding of him. I need a stronger base and understanding of my own before i can effectively minister to others around me. I'm not saying i cant be a light now, just that to be a better light i need a better base.

2) Science: I like science. I am good at science. I want to pursue a career in science. Therefore i have concluded that i want a college that has science.

3) Location: I would prefer one that is not on the other side of the universe so i can come home on holidays/ longer breaks. It would be cool to study abroad though....

4) Size: Size is an important factor. It is not just about the academics, but the place itself because it will be a home for 4+ years. I am thinking something small- medium size, don't really have a preference yet.

Now we will have  a brief telling of out visit to college
#1. Cederville University in Ohio.

I liked this college a lot. Very Christ-centered and a great place to grow in a relationship with God. They have a good science program, and it is a nice size. The location is not bad, about a days drive from home. Cederville will defiantly be on my list at the moment.

So here we end the beginning of the documentation of a search for a college. I would be grateful if you would pray for God to guide me in my choice.

So long for now,
    Lorna

From the inside out....

Here is a video of a great song. It is simple but conveys a very powerful message. Go head, take a look. Tell me what you think.

And the evening fades....

Alas summer is coming to an end, such a tragic time for so many a person. At the end of summer reality seems to slap you in the face, the mystical dreams of you endless imagination fade, the crazy plots you have dreamed up no longer fit into reality....

It is now August (where does the time go!) , the weather is hot, muggy, humid, and school is starting up again.  In other words the end of August can be quite depressing. Don't take me wrong, I like school; but I also like not having school. There are some good things that come with August though.
    1) Organization: When school starts I find myself getting everything together, making goals and plans, and actually getting things accomplished.
    2) Friends: Quite obvious, school starts and you get to see the friends you didn't see over the summer again.
3)Less Time Wasting: School is something that is worthwhile. In summer I tend to waste my time and squander the life God has given, when school starts things seem to kick into high gear. Though there are days when school is worthless and time could better be spent elsewhere......
  4) Fall: After August, fall starts! I love fall, it is one of my favorite seasons. It is cool, you can drink hot chocolate, the leaves change colors, sweaters, long sleeves, bonfires.........

Well that is the end of my list for now. Anyone have anything to add to it?

IMProvise

One of the meanings of our name IMP is improvise, exactly what Bethlehem and I did on Saturday. You would think that it would be hard to each be playing something random with out clashing continuously, but it is actually really easy not to mention fun. First we just pick a key and then play. The beginning is always rough but a melody eventually develops and a song is formed. Maybe I will put up a recording of one(or parts of) our IMProvisation, as soon as I figure out how..........

So long for now,
Happy Monday!

New Blog

Okay so here goes a new blog. Hopefully it will get some followers. For those who don't know, or didn't bother to read the "about me", this is the blog of a band we call IMP. If you want to know the story of the name then you will have Beth who will hopefully be joining this blog soon.

So farewell for now
